Magnet VS Hose - Conscious Opinion Sharing

Everyone has an opinion. And it seems to be a part of human nature to share that opinion, and if possible, to influence others to adopt your opinion (thus validating a state of 'rightness'). There's nothing inherently wrong with doing this. I wouldn't hesitate to convince someone to not nose dive off of an apartment building roof, because IMO, they should stay alive.

There seems to be one of two ways we can go about sharing our opinions, or idea's, or products, or whatever it is your sharing with others. You will recognize each method when I describe them, because they are both used often in marketing and advertising modalities daily.

The Magnet Method

In this method, a persons opinion is appealing through the power of its own merit. Its not being forced on you, or shared in a sense of providing a solution THE OPINIONATED believes you need. Its shared openly, humbly, and provides enough space to be expanded on through the thoughts of others.

The Hose Method

The hose method is usually utilized by what are called "Hosers". In this method, a person literally SPRAYS their idea's and opinions at anyone and everyone they perceives as being in "need" of them. In the course of the Hose method being used, there's really no room (or time) to object or expand on the idea's or thoughts, due to the incessant flow of the 'hoser'.

We have all used both methods, here and there, throughout our lives. In some instances, its wise to use the Magnet method and in others, the Hose method is more applicable. I can't think of an instance off the top of my head when the Hose method would be helpful at all.... maybe someone can give me some examples...

Heh.
